Freelance Web Developer (WordPress & Shopify)
- Location: London, UK
- Seniority level: Mid-Senior
- Employment type: Freelance
Luxury Marketing House is looking for a London-based freelance full-stack web developer to work with us on an ongoing basis, part-time. You’ll support our team across WordPress and Shopify projects – from new premium website builds to ongoing maintenance, performance optimisation, and occasional marketing support such as HTML mailers or email signatures.
We’re looking for someone technically strong, design-aware, and collaborative, with a refined understanding of how luxury brands should appear and perform online. You’ll work closely with our project managers, creatives, and digital leads – people who understand development and digital marketing but aren’t writing code themselves – so clear communication and a flexible, solutions-led approach are key.
This is a long-term freelance partnership, ideal for someone who enjoys variety, values design precision, and wants to build ongoing relationships rather than one-off projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and customise WordPress and Shopify websites from flat designs or Figma files.
- Manage updates, maintenance, and improvements across existing client sites.
- Set up and troubleshoot GA4, Meta Pixel, and GTM tracking.
- Conduct technical audits, performance reviews, and recommend improvements.
- Provide support with HTML-based assets (email templates, signatures, etc.).
- Occasionally join the team in our West London office for key projects.
- Advise the internal team on best practices and technical feasibility.
- Contribute ideas and technical insight for new business pitches.
Technical Skills
- Strong working knowledge of the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).
- Experience developing custom WordPress themes from design files.
- Confident working with Shopify (Liquid) templates and customisation.
- Experience managing servers (ideally AWS EC2 or similar hosting environments).
- Familiarity with Git, NPM, and Gulp for front-end asset processing.
- Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive layouts.
- Awareness of site security principles and best practices.
- Ideally, experience with Mailchimp or similar ESPs.
Soft Skills
- Comfortable advising and collaborating with non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in design alignment and UX.
- Flexible and commercially fair, happy to balance ad hoc work with larger projects.
- Reliable, communicative, and organised — able to work independently while remaining part of the wider team.
