The Event: Chelsea Arts Festival
Following a successful debut last year, the Chelsea Arts Festival returns once again this September for its second edition, bringing four days of contemporary culture and storytelling to the heart of Chelsea. Discover leading and emerging voices across literature, music, theatre, film, dance, and the visual arts, hosted across some of the neighbourhood’s most recognisable cultural institutions, including Cadogan Hall and Saatchi Gallery. Beyond the main programme, free performances will spill onto the streets around King’s Road, Sloane Square and Duke of York Square, turning Chelsea itself into part of the festival. It’s fast becoming a welcome fixture in London’s autumn cultural calendar.

The Exhibition: The Burberry Trench: Crafting an Icon at V&A
From practical outerwear to global fashion icon, the Burberry trench has become one of the most enduring symbols of British style. This September, a new display at the V&A explores the evolution of the house’s most recognisable design, tracing its military origins back to its invention by Thomas Burberry in 1879 through to the craftsmanship and contemporary British sensibility that have helped it remain relevant across generations.

The Restaurant: Vesper
Along Clerkenwell’s folksy Exmouth Market, Jackson Boxer’s latest outpost, Vesper, has already caused a stir as one of the year’s hottest restaurant openings. With Brunswick House, Below Stone Nest, Henri and Dove to his name, Boxer brings his distinctive approach to this modern, minimalist bistro, set against a stark backdrop of whites and silvers. Bookings may be hard to come by, but plenty of space is reserved for walk-ins – welcome news for spontaneous Londoners. Expect European dishes, a must-order off-menu burger and a superb drinks list, making Vesper as suited to a long lunch as it is to a candlelit dinner.

The Experience: Electra / Persona
Cate Blanchett and Nina Hoss take to the National Theatre stage this month in Benedict Andrews’ Electra / Persona. Blending ancient myth with modern psychology, the production brings two iconic works together in an exploration of identity, performance and the fragile line between who we are and who we play. With an incredible cast, this is firmly on our cultural calendar for the month.

The Collection: Maria Grazia Chiuri’s debut collection for Fendi at Harrods
A new chapter begins at Fendi this September as Maria Grazia Chiuri’s debut collection for the house arrives at Harrods. Dedicated pop-ups across the Knightsbridge store will showcase the new-season collection alongside two of Fendi’s most enduring icons, the Baguette and Peekaboo, with live demonstrations from Chanakya artisans offering a closer look at the craftsmanship behind the house. One of fashion’s most anticipated creative appointments, this is firmly on our radar for the new season.
